This book is a simple brown book, the front having an intricate vine like pattern etched into it. There is a heart on it's centre, with the words Kaly's Journal written on it.

The past few months had been full of ups and downs for the young eshu. She had found someone who she had become attracted to, had watched Fiona paint a mural of sizeable proportion, and met several new people. She had liked most of those she had met, those that were not of the darker worlds and did not make her severely ill anyways.
She still remembered the one night Kaylor had fought off the undead creatures that had surrounded her and paralysed her with fear and made her severely ill. He had expressed severe concern for her and had remained with her until she felt well enough to return to the freehold to recover fully.
Kaylor had indeed been a light at the end of her tunnel. He had brought her happiness she never thought possible from a man. She had been severely traumatised by her father as a child. Kaylor had shown her it was possible for tenderness to come from a man. He made her happy.
She had been right in coming to the freehold, there was a sense of family, a sense of belonging. Fiona had been right in her letters saying this would be a good place to come, to find good company. Feeling happy again had been wonderful.
Speaking of happy things, once her stomach settled, she was going to send a letter to Kaylor with the question of when they were going to have their woodland adventure. He had promised her time to go adventuring in the woods. And this was one thing she really had been waiting for.

Kaly sat in Kaylor's living room, a whirlwind of emotions running through her. She had so much on her mind. She wanted all to be well in the world that seemed to be clouded by darkness lately.
Kaylor, as stubborn as he was. She could tell he was hurting, pirates had taken him down a few nights ago and she kept telling him to find a healer, but he refused. Stubborn as he was, he kept saying he would if the pain got any worse. And last night, to think, he said if he could not find his gypsy friend to assist him, he would summon her and die within her arms.
Kaly shook her head at the thought and had laughed with him.
He had asked her how far she was willing to commit herself to him. She had told him she was willing to do just about anything if it was possible. He had simply nodded and said he would keep that in mind for later use. She had smiles and made a personal note to herself to keep her guard up a little, she sensed she could be up against quite a challenge.
Kaylor was so different than the previous people she had been around. Sure, he had darker thoughts, but so did a lot of people she knew. There was not once she did not travel the lands and heard someone wanting to kill another, or someone wanting to beat someone else up until they lay in a pool of their own blood. He had explained to her she would see a change. He was starting to make changes in his life where he saw fit. All Kaly did was nod and assured him that she would help if and when possible.
It was just two nights ago now where she had found out he loved her. After a long winded conversation about hundreds of other things. He had gotten very serious, asked her to listen to him carefully as he spoke. She had quieted, terrified at the look of anxiousness in his eyes. She had seen this look only once before, but that night, she had to admit to herself, she was afraid he had been going to tell her that he could not carry on with her anymore, things needed to end.
He had asked her how she felt around him, how she felt being in love was like. She had told him that she felt uplifted, and warm hearted, a part of her darkened spirit was set free. He nodded in response and then had asked "How do you feel when you are with me?" She had looked him directly in the eyes then and told him just how she felt. Her heart warmed at that moment as his dark sensual smile broke across his face as he locked eyes with her and pulled her against him. "I love you Kaly" And had she not been within his arms, she would have collapsed, as her knees gave out at the words he spoke as he bent to kiss her. She had fallen asleep happier than ever that night.
Kaylor had met her at Galehaven earlier this evening. First time Kaly had ever gone anywhere other than the Garden or the Rose. Both were familiar grounds to her, this was a newer place, so she took a few moments to gain her bearings outside before entering and first thing she could not help but notice was James. He wore very bright orange and yellow attire that evening.
It was not long after Kaylor entered that he was asked to go with Korthos and Nickcali. He had pulled her aside after the men had returned from speaking and told her what he had learned, with a saddened expression. She had offered him sympathy and he had asked her to remain here, with a pleading look in his eyes until he returned from where he was headed.
She had reassured him she would certainly stay until he returned. He had returned some three hours or so later and had sat for a bit before saying it was time to return to Everthorne. She had agreed to do so and they arranged to meet outside the Garden.
They had talked for hours into the night, about various things. Here and there pausing to just enjoy each other's company. The night ended and Kaylor had taken her back to his house, saying she sleep here if she chose to. She had just told him she would be haunting his house for a long time to come. He had smiles and asked if she was free to spend time with him Monday evening, as he was going to be guarding Ismene and Glorfindel's wedding on Sunday. Kaly had smiled and said of course. And he had given her a dark smile and had taken his leave.
She had tripped up the stairs with a sigh of relief and waited to hear his footsteps to let her know he had returned from his venture safely.

A lot had happened since she had last written upon these pages. Some good, some bad. Confusion, fear, sadness, happiness. All in a matter of days.
First off, her and Kaylor had shared a rather intimate night on Monday evening. She had felt as though she was walking on water the next day, though it was not meant to last long so she found out.
She had arrived at the Winter's Rose in a good mood, hoping to find Kaylor had come up the mountain from Everthorne this night, and she was not disappointed. He had met her at the door and encircled her waist with his arms in greeting. She had kissed his cheek and then they sat together, as happened much of the time they were together.
Sage and Ian had been off by the bar, talking with each other and then Ian had carried Sage off to her lab.
Kaylor's expression changed just after they left and Kaly could tell something was on his mind. She asked him calmly what it was he was trying to say. He replied with "I love you".
He had taken her hands within his, she felt a warmth surround her, as she often did with him. She had smiled and said that she felt the same. Then his gaze shifted and he said he was going to change. He looked at her directly and asked if she remembered what he had said about how he had once been a darker person. She had nodded in response. He had smiled faintly and mentionned the words he was changing again. She had then asked him bluntly. "So you are going back then."
Kaylor had grabbed both her upper arms and turned her to face him. "No Kaly, I am doing the opposite" She had let out a sigh of relief and hugged him fiercely.
The he asked her if she had heard of knights fighting in the name of holiness. She had simply nodded a response to his question. He looked to her sincerely then, and said "I am going to be one of them"
She had taken a deep breath at his words, wavering slightly, but covering it well enough. She refused to let it show that his words had tinged her with a slight pain. Kaly looked into his eyes then and without uttering a word, tried to push away the thoughts that crept into her mind. As if reading her mind then, he pulled her against him and told her he was not leaving her.
Kaly felt a wave of relief. She knew things would need to change between them, but she was not going to lose him forever. The thought that had been playing through her mind since the conversation had begin between them, was then banished from her mind, at least for now.
They left the Rose, still hand in hand and went to Kaylor's home. They had talked some more along the way and when they got there, Kaylor gave her a gift, one she would treasure for a long time to come.
"This is to show that you will be bound to my heart forever, and I to yours, Kaly"
She had smiled and could no longer withold her tears as she looked to the gift in her hand. "Thank you Kaylor, this means so much"
He had closed the space between them and pulled a handkerchief trimmed in lace from his belt. "This is what Lady Ismene gave me, I keep it here in my belt to remind me of compassion. And it seems right that I use it to wipe the tears of my compassionate angel" She felt his fingers move the cloth over her face and she rested her head on his shoulder. He held her quietly as she composed herself. Kaly could not stand the silence much longer and broke it once she found her breath.
"So I guess this is when your gypsy lover ancy shows up and whisks you off your feet hmm?"
Kaylor's look then was one of shock and horror.
"When did you...what did he..." Kaylor stammered over his words
"He said he longs to have your naked body against him Kaylor McKairin. Wants to feel you against him"
Kaylor picked up a pillow and threw it at her. "Tell me you did not have such a conversation. You are making it up."
"Oh but we did have this conversation. He longs to be with you Kaylor. Your gypsy lover and you would be perfect. I will send a note on your behalf to him."
"Riight"
"Dearest Ancy, I miss you so, it has been too long. Please come to me as soon as you can. I am ready to be your bedmate. Signed, your love, Kaylor"
"Send it, then"
Kaly could barely contain herself as she summoned a bird and attached the note. Kaylor all the while was laughing so hard his bed shook hard, had thrown another pillow at Kaly's head, and had been telling her to go to sleep.
"Now we wait for him to come and stab me, now go to sleep!"
"Right, he cares too much for you to hurt you that much. If he does, it will be in a place he can fix easily."
They continued on at each other for a long while. Then Kaly excused herself to go find some milk to help calm herself as she had worked herself up far too much to sleep just then. She would need to tell Fiona of what had happened tomorrow afternoon.

Kaly sat in the branches of a tree, not far from Kaylor's house. Why she picked this spot so often to write, she was unsure. It was high enough up to keep her out of sight from anyone passing below, so perhaps it was a safety zone. And if anyone did spot her that she deemed a threat she just needed to hop through the trees to Kaylor's roof to reach a safe point.
So much had been going through her head of late. Things were changing, she felt it in her heart, even if she did not want to accept that fact just yet. She loved Kaylor, and he had said the same to her, many times. And she saw it when she looked to his eyes. But something else was there, something she was uncertain of what it was exactly.
She had talked with Ancyous earlier and either last eve or the eve before. She could not remember which day precisely. Ancy had said that Kaylor protects those he cares for even if he does not admit it and he wont push you away but he will make sure you are not abandoned. What did he mean by that? So many questions...
And then, there was Kaylor. They had spent a pleasant evening together, for the most part. Attended the wedding of Nick and Laurana, and then spent some time at the garden. At the end of the evening, when people were retiring, it had taken a few minutes for her to come to realize Kaylor had been asking her where she was spending the night. She had blushed and apologized for daydreaming, then he had just shook his head and said "come on then".
Before drifting to sleep, they had discussed several things at length, eventually leading to pillows being tossed across the room at each other. Kay had few words after that, aside from "Ancyous can attack without warning". She had just sighed and wished him good night.
Today had been rather different, she had taken up her kryss and shield and on her mount took off through the woods in search of something to jab her blade into. She came across an ettin and decided now would be the perfect time to see how she could do without the assistance of anyone to deal with a sizeable opponent. It had taken her a long while to bring the ettin to the ground, but she was successful in the end.
Hephaistion came across her path not long after her kill and had congratulated her on her killing. She had thanked him and they had talked briefly before he had to go back to his house to decorate.
Not long after, Ancyous had showed up. She had remembered then what Kaylor had said to her and had done her best to ward him off. It had taken every ounce of strength in her to do it, but she thought she had done rather well. Kaylor's words had stuck in her head of him attacking without warning. He had asked her a lot of questions, doubling back in the end and asking the same thing again. She told him what was in her heart, what he seemed to want to know, and that seemed to have him back off some, he understood she cared for and loved Kaylor deeply.
Kaylor had come out after, saying Ancy said she was killing critters. She told him she had taken an ettin down, and he had looked pleased at her progress. Saying he was impressed with her skill. She had been happy ever since. They had then gone upstairs to the roof to have a long discussion, some of it serious, some not. They said they loved eachother and then Kaylor excused himself to go eat, she having eaten already, let herself out and had gone to this tree.
It was then she realized she should have asked the questions milling through her head. Perhaps next time, she would be able to ask all those questions that ran through her head like rabbits chasing carrots on a string. Carrots, that sounded like a good snack.

So much to think about, so much has happened. Change has happened, some of which I am unsure of. People have come and gone, others have blessed my life with their existance, others have tried to harm my conscience and being. I have seen this happen so many times before.
Changes happen for a reson, one must learn to adapt and live with what is happening. Life is full of changes, does not mean one has to like all of them.

Kaly looked over her journal thoughtfully, remembering the day that she had met him. So much had changed since then, he had made some decisions, changed his path in life, and therefore they would remain, now, just friends. It was fine with her then, why, now, was it there, in her mind, nagging at her. She knew she could not change anything. Perhaps, sleep would help, maybe it was all just dreaming, her mind would be clear by morning. She would talk things over with Fiona, see how her friend was doing now that she was older. Kaly hopped down from her perch in the tree and made her way towards the house. Sleep and dreams would help her feel better, she hoped.
